A Mysterious Silence

Things are relatively quiet on the internets this holiday. I was even off most of the morning. It’s a beautiful day here, perfect for a barbecue or pool party.

But now that I’m back online, I need a reality check. Trump’s more outrageous (yes, I know) posts usually draw a response, and there’s one that I haven’t even seen snarked at. It’s supposedly a video of his response to the events of 9/11, which of course was heroic.

He claimed in a recent interview that he was there and sent hundreds of “his people” to help, which is also the claim in the video. I’m recalling that he was off doing other things, and when reporters caught up to him, his main response was “Now my building is the tallest in downtown Manhattan.” But I haven’t paid the attention that others have to Donald Trump’s lies and aggrandizements.

From what I know, though, the video he’s posted is yet one more lie. And, I suspect, AI-generated, but I’d like a reading from someone who has the tools to check it. The evidence I’m seeing? It’s the story he’s been belching out lately. I think he looks older in the video than he was back in 2001. The camera work is a little too good. So not great evidence.

I’m just very curious why nobody but me is even mentioning the video.
