I don’t do any social media unless LGM counts, so I’m relying on second hand reports from various informants here, but it appears that MAGAworld is now in a genuine crisis over the Epstein files.
As insane as it might seem — and is — the MAGA base has always taken it as a a central article of faith that Donald Trump was going to “expose” the truth about the fiendish liberal conspiracy to sexually exploit children in order to [fill in any of various baroque explanations here], and that Jeffrey Epstein’s machinations were critical to that conspiracy, and indeed in many ways practically synonymous with it.
That it’s no longer deniable to even the most delusional denizens of MAGAland that Trump is obsessed with doing everything possible to cover up his own dealings with Epstein, which, under the circumstances — circumstances that include Epstein’s undeniably convenient death — seem suspicious even to those residents of La La Land who up until now were prone to mistake Trump for some sort of prophetic savior, if not the Risen Christ himself.
What I’m saying is that popcorn futures are looking pretty solid right now.
