LGM Film Club, Part 527: Framed

Framed is a 1947 noir(ish) directed by Richard Wallace and starring Glenn Ford as a man entering a town who meets a woman who isn’t what she seems. Fresh, I know. The basic plot is that the woman (Janis Carter) is a waitress who takes care of him when he gets drunk but that’s because she and her banker boyfriend (Barry Sullivan) are looking for a sap they can kill and frame for stealing money from the bank while they get away scot free. Surprise, it doesn’t quite go as planned.
This is an OK film at best. Ford is fine as a lead in what is basically a B movie, but Carter is pretty rough as an actress and there’s zero chemistry between them, which is a problem given what happens later in the movie. The plot holes are also as wide as the mine that plays a role in the film. Like a lot of late 40s movies, it’s fine to throw on some evening if you want a relatively easy watch of a classic era of film, but it’s hard for me to call this very good.
Whole thing is on YouTube, so here it is, what else do you have going on tonight?
