Trump has conceded the election! Well, not formally, but:

Senior campaign aides scurried to urge organizers to kill the event, infamously staged at the wrong “Four Seasons” — a landscaping business adjacent to an adult bookstore and a crematorium. But Giuliani plowed ahead anyway, delivering a conspiracy-filled rant that undercut the legal strategy the president’s advisers had meticulously mapped out in the run-up to the election.

Campaign officials described the episode as disastrous, saying it scared off many of the lawyers they spent months recruiting, who now no longer wanted to be involved. With the campaign already facing exceedingly long odds in its recount efforts, there are widespread concerns within Trumpworld and GOP circles that Giuliani’s antics are thwarting the president’s legal machinery from within.

“I can’t imagine that a rational person” in the general public “wouldn’t be adversely affected by the way he conducts himself,” said Barry Richard, who represented George W. Bush in the 2000 Florida recount.

Yet Giuliani is taking on a heightened role. The president on Friday appointed him to oversee any new post-election litigation. The move, which was first reported by the New York Times, has distressed top campaign officials and other advisers, who worry Giuliani’s Hail Mary ploys will damage Trump’s reputation and potentially harm his future political aspirations.

Whether Trump knows having Guilani running things is a de facto concession speech is unclear, but the effect is the same either way. Sad that having dug up the remains of his reputation to immolate them again Turely couldn’t even get in on the mop-up duty.

Still, Rudy isn’t even the worst of Trump’s bad law talkin’ guys:

Epstein’s victims are mentioned in another passage in the full report, concerning Epstein attorney Alan Dershowitz. In it, former Palm Beach County State Attorney Barry Krischer recalled that Epstein’s defense team had brought “voluminous material” seeking to discredit Epstein’s accusers in pushing for the state to allow Epstein to plead no contest, rather than guilty to possible sex charges.

Krischer told OPR that he remembered Dershowitz as “overly aggressive,” adding that Dershowitz had threatened, “We’re going to destroy your witnesses; don’t go to court because we’re going to destroy those girls.” Dershowitz and Epstein accuser Virginia Roberts Giuffre are currently suing each other for defamation.

Dershowitz didn’t deny raising issues about the credibility of Epstein’s accusers in conversation with Krischer but did deny using that language.

Your reminder that the 6th Amendment right to counsel does not entitle counsel to immunity from criticism when they behave like amoral scumbags.

But, anyway, the president’s (morally, at least) worst lawyer Bill Barr has done his good friend Alex Acosta a solid by sweeping his sweetheart plea deal with Trump’s friend Jeffrey Epstein and the many third parties he also tried to shield from prosecution right back under the rug. And never forget that the comprehensively Trumpian Barr is also as Republican Establishment as you can get. There’s no daylight here at all.
