Friday Creature Feature: Carnotaurus
Carnotaurus was a dinosaur that lived during the late Cretaceous, around 70 million years ago.
At first glance, it kinda just looks like another pretty fearsome therapod, in the mold of, say, Allosaurus or T-Rex. But look closer and you’ll notice it has significantly shorter jaw than the aforementioned… and horns. But Mother Nature didn’t toss back her snifter of Wild Turkey and call it a day,
no. She decided to give Carnotaurus comically-small arms, because she’s an asshole. Wiki claims they are vestigial! But, rest assured–I’m sure that once other prehistoric creatures stopped laughing themselves unconscious at the sight of his floppy, useless little nub-“arms,” they were properly frightened by the successful predator. Then again, who knows? Maybe Carny T was a pioneering carnivore–one that got its prey to giggle itself to death.
