L: Trump supporters. R: Paul supporters.

Jonathan Peters has the latest entry in the “shockingly, Trump supporters still support Trump” series, which is…instructive:

Gina Anders knows the feeling well by now. President Trump says or does something that triggers a spasm of outrage. She doesn’t necessarily agree with how he handled the situation. She gets why people are upset.

But Ms. Anders, 46, a Republican from suburban Loudoun County, Va., with a law degree, a business career, and not a stitch of “Make America Great Again” gear in her wardrobe, is moved to defend him anyway.

“All nuance and all complexity — and these are complex issues — are completely lost,” she said, describing “overblown” reactions from the president’s critics, some of whom equated the Trump administration’s policy of separating migrant children and parents to history’s greatest atrocities.

“It makes me angry at them, which causes me to want to defend him to them more,” Ms. Anders said.

She doesn’t own an MAGA hat! She’s a suburbanite! And yet she still supports Donald Trump, in spite of his racism, because his critics are shrill!

Or perhaps there’s a simpler explanation:

Yes, it is truly shocking that a Ron Paul-supporting neocondeferate still supports Donald Tump! (Note too that many members of the anti-anti-Trump “left” have also been Paul-curious. There’s no puzzle to be explained here.) In addition to the obvious, Peters also seems to assume that being in Anders’s socioeconomic position should make her naturally anti-Trump, once again missing the obvious point that while the marginal Trump voter might be a white person without a college degree (but decent income), the typical Trump voter is an affluent or more white person.*

Although at least Peters is open to substantive criticism, not a SPECIAL SNOWFLAKE who needs a SAFE SPACE is someone civilly disagrees with him:

Good comeback! And, as it happens, in violation of his newspaper’s social media policy, but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

*I love this way of putting it:
