Colorado Democratic party bans Jared Polis from speaking at party events or being honored at them

Now this right here is both a good thing in and of itself, and a sign of how a fully justified tsunami of rage is welling up on the American left, very broadly defined. At this particular historical moment, “the left” in America includes everyone who is opposed to Donald Trump’s indescribably corrupt authoritarianism. So at this particular moment Alexandria Ocasio Cortez and Bill Kristol are both leftists. What a world . . .

As for Polis, I well remember the moment I became aware of his existence, which was more than 30 years ago, when he called me on my office telephone (this was a device that sat on your desk, which would make a loud noice when someone wished to contact you via it) to ask for some free advice regarding a question of constitutional law. He was already immensely rich at that point, but if there’s one thing rich people hate to do is to pay for anything. It’s like fascism on your wedding day.

I wish I could have magically prophesized to him at that moment about what he and this nation would become thirty years hence.
