I am happy to report that the right wing plan to prove that the vast majority of Americans prefer “woke” entertainment to whatever the right wing says is good was a complete success. That’s what they meant to do, right?

Frank Luntz, a veteran political consultant and pollster, said that Turning Point USA’s halftime show drew “more than five million” viewers, but The New York Times reports that 6.1 million people opted to watch the event, which was streamed on YouTube.

Measured by Nielsen, that’s above the 124.9 million average viewers achieved by this year’s Super Bowl overall but down from the 133.5 million viewers achieved by Kendrick Lamar, who set the record last year. Before Lamar, the record was held by Usher for his 2024 performance.

Also, drop that platter of loaded nachos. Only apple pie, meatloaf and maybe some fried chicken are allowed at the Superbowl party.

During the Fox News interview, Rock said Bad Bunny’s performance was “not my cup of tea, but I don’t fault (Bad Bunny) for doing the Super Bowl, getting in front of a global audience.”
“I fault the NFL for putting him in that position and Turning Point for having to come out and have an alternative for people to watch. You know, it’s just – poor kid,” he said.
Kid Rock is not owned because the “poor kid” has six Grammys to his name, compared to Kid Rock’s zero Grammys. And do not put it in the paper that he is mad. Or lip synchs.

TPUSA spokesperson Andrew Kolvet has suggested its number could rise to 50 million for the event, which took place during rapper Bad Bunny’s Spanish performance at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.
“I can tell you that’s a shot across the bow. People are paying attention,” Kolvet told Fox News host Brian Kilmeade on Sunday evening. “And, you know, if you give us a year to plan this thing—I’m really excited to see what we can pull off.”

A reminder than if Republicans had their way everyone would have to listen to whatever Americanned sludge, complete with a twang never heard in the wild, meets with their approval?
