This is a remarkable admission from Gregory Bovino:
Bovino, the man overseeing mass deportations, publicly declared that we must all have our papers on us, at all times, or we could be stopped, harassed, kidnapped, and detained, as they did with the man in this case, who is a US citizen.

The person detained in the incident in question was an American citizen. Bovino is inventing a “show us your papers and by the way a REAL ID is not enough” requirement for American citizens although American citizens 1)generally have no immigration paperwork to show and 2)no affirmative responsibility to carry any form of ID whatsoever. This position means effectively that the 4th Amendment is suspended for anyone, citizens included, if immigration officials have any suspicion (requiring nothing close to probable cause) that you might be undocumented.
Personally, I continue to believe that the Supreme Court actually enforcing the 4th and 14th Amendments is superior to the new constitutional regime they have allowed the Trump administration to create through the shadow docket.
