Here’s a little but very telling example of someone living in a political isolation booth, not some random anti-anti-Trump shitposter but a New York Times editor (granting that there’s substantial overlap between these two categories):

“The social media site run by Trump’s most prominent lickspittle that I scroll constantly suppresses pertinent information they don’t people to see. In unrelated news, why do all these anti-Trump protests come out of nowhere? What could the purpose of its central message possibly be? Can anyone claim that Trump has abused his auhtority?”

It’s not just that the purpose of the “no kings” theme is obvious — has he paid attention to the news at all this year? Is he familiar with a little thing called Trump v. United States? — the first major No Kings protests were in June!

It’s also impossible to imagine a prominent editor saying this about the (much, much smaller) Tea Party Protests:

The networks took the much smaller Tea Party movement so seriously they broadcast a Tea Party rebuttal to Obama’s 2011 SOTU on top of the normal GOP one.

They were smaller, but to a lot of the American press 1)the Tea Party represented the Real Volk while No Kings represented Your Nagging Mom and 2)complaints about the wrong people getting mortgages and immigration are more sympathetic than complaints about arbitrary executive power.
