Week 29

I am still recuperating from the move and only this morning realized I do this column every week now. I’m getting more organized, and the piano is supposed to arrive on Monday!
More Epstein this week, although that seems to be dying down as Donald Trump prepares to give Ukraine to Vladimir Putin. The capitulation will be on the soil of Aleyska, a former Russian colony. Putin can’t go to most places that might host such a meeting, like Dubai, because he has been designated a war criminal. But that’s okay with Trump.
The meeting is a major victory for Putin, although not the fullness of his desires. On US soil, the US President hosting him for Great Power talks over the fate of a lesser property. After that, can full possession of Lesser Russia be far behind?
Heather Cox Richardson has a very good column connecting Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign to today’s capitulation to Russia. What’s happening now is pretty much the plan Paul Manafort was pushing back then.
The scale of corruption was even too much for Trump’s corrupt IRS commissioner, so that’s something.
Democrats elected to the Texas House are still preventing that House and corrupt governor Greg Abbott from handing more seats in the national House of Representatives to the corrupt Republican Party and its President. California governor Gavin Newsom hosted some of them in a press conference, after Illinois governor JB Pritzker welcomed them to his state. Even Kathy Hochul got behind the program and threatened to redistrict. Corrupt Greg Abbott and his corrupt AG, Ken Paxton, made a bunch of illegal threats that they don’t seem to have even tried to carry out.
Follow the court-watchers for the details of the lawsuits. Chris Geidner (LawDork, Bluesky), Roger Parloff (Lawfare, Bluesky), and the Just Security tracker.
As usual, keep it to things that have actually happened, not hypotheticals. What is actually happening is bad enough.
Caring for yourself and loved ones is resistance too. Post your pets. We are adapting to Oregon as my stuff arrives in increments. With any luck, the piano comes this week.
179 more weeks to go. What are you doing?
Let’s condense the previous weeks: Week 10, Week 20, Week 21, Week 22, Week 23, Week 24 , Week 25, Week 26, Week 27, Week 28
