Losing The Puerto Rican Vote
I feel considerably better this morning about Kamala Harris’s chances of becoming President, and all our chances of avoiding authoritarianism.
You probably all know by now that that well-known comedian, Tony Whifflebottom (Whiteham? Whatever) insulted Puerto Rico and Puerto Ricans as part of the warmup to Donald Trump’s racism. He and others also insulted Jews, Palestinians, and a bunch of others.
At the same time Kamala Harris was in Philadelphia speaking about her plan to boost Puerto Rico’s economy by rebuilding its power grid. She gained the endorsement of another superstar entertainer, Bad Bunny. Ricky Martin joined the crowd.
About 580,000 Puerto Ricans living in Pennsylvania can vote in this election.
Besides Pennsylvania, about a million Puerto Ricans live in Florida, 100,000 in Georgia, 100,000 in Michigan, 100,000 in North Carolina, 45,000 in Arizona, and 40,000 in Nevada. Half of them voted in 2020.
Even the New York Times and Washington Post did a pretty good job of covering the Nazi appreciation rally. Both gift links.
Update: Here are all the other groups demeaned at the rally. Gift link
