Thought I’d pick the film with the greatest heist scene of all time for tonight’s film club: Jules Dassin’s 1955 film Rififi. In truth, outside of the half-hour heist scene, which has a claim as greatest scene in film history (I’d take the women as terrorists bombing scene in The Battle of Algiers for that title), the film is kind of a whatever crime film. But that scene. My God. The whole thing is not available, but here’s a piece of the film.
It’s also an appropriate film for tonight. Because we are sticking you up for your money! Hand it over motherfuckers or you are going to get it the gut!
