Chivalry Isn’t Dead
I thought this post talking about misconceptions re: chivalry was fascinating. Perhaps you will, too.
This ties in to the whole “women as sex dispensers” conversation, a conversation I’ve been tempted to have, but there’s really not a whole conversation’s worth of things to say about the subject. Because “treat women like interesting, diverse human beings with opinions and interests of their own” simply doesn’t take that long to type out. Plus, I think that saying things like that is fruitless anyway because the men who view women as sex dispensers have one hurdle they’ll just never clear in their efforts to have sex: they just flat-out don’t like women and it shows. Even if I were the most free-love, up-for-anything, “Yeah, we just met but let’s have a couple drinks then screw like the world’s ending” kinda gal, I’d never give it up to someone who just plain ol’ doesn’t find women interesting, who didn’t find me interesting. Attraction is a complex thing. Looks are only one factor. The connection’s gotta be there, even if you’re just talking about hooking up. It’s hard for women to connect to men who actively hate women.
I also think a lot of these clueless dudes want to bang women who are significantly more attractive than they are. No butterfaces or fat chicks for these Stamis (that’s the plural of Stamos) nosiree. But that’s a conversation for another day.
