To piggyback on Scott’s post, my summer reading list includes (hopefully including reviews for this site:

Rob Nixon, Slow Violence and the Environmentalism of the Poor
Joseph McCartin, Collision Course: Ronald Reagan, the Air Traffic Controllers, and the Strike that Changed America.
Frank Bardacke, Trampling out the Vintage: Cesar Chavez and the Two Souls of the United Farm Workers
James Lawrence Powell, The Inquisition of Climate Science
Ronald Bishop, More: The Vanishing of Scale in an Over the Top Nation
Richard White, Railroaded: The Transcontinentals and the Making of Modern America

While I’m a huge fan of the first Caro volume, I’ve never read the others so I am going to plunge into the 2nd at some point this summer, mythological Coke Stevenson or no. I am also determined to rekindle my fiction reading and am currently reading Tomas Eloy Martinez’s Santa Evita, which I am enjoying tremendously. I also recently read Antonio Tabucchi’s The Missing Head of Damasceno Monteiro, which was also fantastic.
