The Poor Man on Imperial Hubris:

The longest Tacitus post ever. Half right, half wrong, but mostly concerned with stridently asserting the author’s own moral superiority to anyone at a higher pay grade. Makes a completely convincing case that Osama bin Laden’s personal abilities and charisma have been ignored by Westerners, because it is too uncomfortable for us to face up to the fact that we are so hated; makes a provocative argument that our mission in Afghanistan was doomed to utter failure when we didn’t to mount a full-on invasion by 9/14; spends pages and pages arguing that we are in the middle of a World War, so we’d better face it, which makes as much sense as it ever does (not much); and pens a deeply embarrassing love letters to Victor Davis Hanson. Not worth it.

Seems about right.

Enjoy the game.
