On a lighter note, I was at a wedding reception tonight, and when I went to the bar the bartender charged me $16 for a couple of beers (one was for my brother m’kay?). I was a bit surprised because the bride’s family is loaded like nobody’s business, but I thought hey rich people can be strange about money or maybe they’re teetotalers or something.

So an hour later my brother in law asks if I want him to get a glass of wine for me from the bar to go with our dinner, and I say sure let me give you some money, and he says it’s an open bar. So I sallied forth and infiltrated the place purportedly purveying complimentary alcoholic beverages, and asked the bartender to explain why he had charged me for two beers. He said oh there was some confusion at the very beginning of this soiree about whether it was an open bar or not. I thought that was a rather remarkable thing for a bartender at such an event to be unsure of (there were like 300 people at the reception), so I asked him if he had an ideas on how we could deal with these contretemps. He replied, in from what I could tell was all seriousness, that he could offer me a free drink. Whereupon I literally heard the Curb Your Enthusiasm theme song start playing in my head
