Last Friday, Rhino Records re-issued the Replacements’ 1984 classic Let It Be as a deluxe box set—a remaster of the original LP, a disc of alternate takes and a live show from the Cubby Bear in Chicago. It’s a pretty glorious package.

And I wrote the liner notes. I’m super happy with how they came out.

It goes without saying that any fan should go ahead and treat themselves to the LP or CD edition of the re-issue, but for anyone who isn’t at a point in their career or their hoarding where they can add another box set to their life, GQ was nice enough to re-publish my liner notes, in full. You can read those here, and I hope you do, if you will dare.
