Trump halting planned attacks on Iran, saying there’s a framework of a deal President Donald Trump announced on Saturday night that he is holding off on new strikes against Iran saying that there are “perimeters of a deal.”

President Donald Trump said on Monday that the United States is not seeking an extension of the memorandum of understanding with Iran.
Trump also told reporters that Iran would not make the type of deal with the United States that he thought was necessary.

I’m editing the Cavalcade of Stupidity index to the stupid book about our stupid, stupid minds, and the section on Iran is a real laugh riot. Now that we’re nearly six months into this catastrophe, it’s clearer than ever that it’s going to drag on for the rest of the second of Trump’s presidencies, with no real resolution.
Trump doesn’t have either the attention span or the political capital to genuinely escalate into an all-out ground war (lots of boring meetings; Susan Collins would grow quite concerned), and he can’t just withdraw either, because the overt humiliation would be too much. So what we’re going to get is what we have now, which is to say this increasingly ludicrous tango with Iran’s increasingly hardline rulers, who realize full well that they’ve got Trump stuck in a political nightmare. This means a “deal” will be “imminent” every few weeks or so, until it’s not again, which will lead to a spate of random bombing and death and destruction, which will accomplish nothing beyond that, until little Jared takes his portfolio and starts negotiating another “deal” via the Saudis, who are paying him hundreds of millions of dollars via his PE fund, which is definitely not a conflict of interest if you have an IQ of 93, which is to say you’re the “swing” voter who is going to decide the midterms.
