The American Voter

I actually enjoy the Times’ interviews with random voters. The reason is that reading their completely nonsensical opinions is a great reminder to the political person that the average American voter is a blithering moron and that everything we think because it makes sense to us is irrelevant unless it makes sense to people who know absolutely nothing about anything. This is why the incredible confidence that everyone across the broader Democratic Party spectrum, from Third Way to socialists, that if only the Party followed their ideas, electoral gold would result is totally misplaced. You have to convince people who simply don’t know the first thing about government. Now, there’s a flip side to this, which is that people saying this and that would be terrible also have to reckon about whether it would be to these people and it might not be. The only issue that unites people broadly is whether the economy is “good,” whatever that means to them. Anyway, some highlights from today’s version, from regretful Trump voters.

“Trump, being a smart man” you can’t beat this kind of comedy.
