The VPN Industry is Booming in South Carolina!

One of the things Republican dominated states are doing is cracking down on pornography, as we see here in South Carolina. Theoretically, they are claiming that they are protecting children, but what seems to be happening is that they are requiring users to upload their drivers license to prove their age, which means putting your identity in the hands on a pornography monger and who the hell would do that? So pornography sites are pulling out of certain states. Two thoughts come to mind. First is the Matt Gaetz level of hypocrisy that is going on. I’d love to find out the internet viewing habits of these guys. But hey, I’m sure Ted Cruz would be on board for a national ban!

Second is something I had heard about but only have experienced lately. To watch sports in Mexico, I got a VPN, which means I can trick the internet into believing I am watching from whatever American server I am hooked into. One nice thing about this going forward next fall is to have one NFL game on my TV and another on my computer. In any case, anyone who cares enough about pornography to get around these bans is obviously just going to buy one of these things and then be in some blue state or even Canada or something if and when the Roberts Court holds up the ban signed by Donald Trump in 2028 or something, a decision that will no doubt be shortly followed by Clarence Thomas writing the opinion to overturn Loving v. Virginia.

So really it will be perfect. It will allow Republicans to say they are protecting our children and engaging in their beloved Comstock laws, while actually doing nothing to protect anyone at all.
