LGM Film Club, Part 445: It Happens to Us

Last night, I watched Amalie Rothschild’s 1972 documentary It Happens to Us, which is a series of interviews with women who underwent illegal abortions. After its release, Rothschild put a rolling screen at the beginning saying that despite Roe, this documentary is necessary so long as reproductive rights are threatened. Boy was she right about that. It’s only 30 minutes along (available on Criterion only until the end of the month though probably accessible elsewhere) and the trailer is 4 minutes, so enjoy a good chunk of the film here. Well, enjoy may not be the optimum word, but you should watch it anyway.
