Cryin’ Ted

You can accuse Tailgunner Ted of innumerable things, but having shame has never been one of them:

See, your typical Republican hack will just cite the stats on the Virginia gerrymander and pretend that the Democrat Party invented the practice. Cruz actually cites the egregious Republican gerrymander that 1)began this cycle of midterm redistricting, and 2)makes clear that if there were a way Republicans could have drawn a map to get 100% of the seats they would have. And this has always been one of the countless problems with partisan gerrymandering: once you accept the principle that it’s fine for elected officials to pick their electorate rather than vice versa, there’s no limiting principle.
We’re all looking for the guys who did this!
Anyway, the state of play is that the vast majority of Democratic federal elected officials and judges believe that there should be a national anti-gerrymandering rule, which hasn’t happen because no Republican elected officials or judges favor it. What Republicans want is to gerrymander while Democrats unilaterally disarm, and they’re furious that state-level Democrats have finally figured out that for supporters of democratic values this is obviously the worst option. Take your medicine and shut up, buddy.
