NFL Open Thread: Without Love I am not whole edition
First of all, let us celebrate “Notre Dame loses at home to random directional school at home” day:

L, and might I add, OL.
We’ve already had two excellent games so far, but the biggest development going forward is the injury suffered to Jordan Love, who will apparently miss a month or so. This is where Tanier’s ranking of the league’s backup QB situations comes in handy, and hoo boy is the situation in Green Bay grim, as they’re apparently stuck with the choice between a guy whose career imploded on the launch pad in Tennessee and the new Christian Hackenberg:
31. Malik Willis/Sean Clifford, Green Bay Packers
The Packers released practice-field blunder factory Clifford last week, then re-signed him to their practice squad. “I told Sean I think we’ve seen him play better than all the things we saw throughout the course of the offseason,” Matt LaFleur said, per Jason B. Hirschhorn of The Leap. In other words: we love you for who you are on the inside, and we’re sorry for stringing you along.
The Packers also traded a seventh-round pick last week for Willis, a Trey Lance Lite who is still considered a viable prospect among those who see visions of Cam Newton every time a burly college quarterback jukes an Old Dominion linebacker. Willis lost his job in Tennessee to Josh Dobbs about three days after Dobbs joined the team in 2022. (In fairness, that counts as tons of prep time for Dobbs.) He then fell behind Will Levis in the Titans’ plans before losing their backup job to Mason Rudolph. But Willis works cheap, could zone-read his way through a few series if called upon and is almost certainly better than Clifford. Stay healthy, Jordan Love.
This is excellent news for John McCain the Detroit Lions and Chicago Bears!
