Hey friends, just wanted to do some quickie reviews of recent movies I’ve watched. Please feel to chime in with your own recent watches.

Resurrection was a really solid drama-thriller-horror with one of the most shocking reveals I’ve encountered in quite some time. Rebecca Hall and Tim Roth are fantastic.

The Northman was a trippy, intense, gripping watch. Enjoyed! Recommend.

Don’t Worry Darling has been unfairly maligned! I really got something out of it, primarily its critique of the backlash to feminism, capitalism and how those things intersect. There was craft involved in his film and Florence Pugh was amazing, as always. If you enjoyed the themes explored in films like “Stepford Wives” and “Get Out,” I say this a good companion to them.

Glass Onion was actually better than the original Knives Out mystery. Funnier, twistier and more biting. I loved it.

Smile was one of the best horror films I’ve seen in awhile. Stylish and well-acted, I ended up finding it more sad than scary, as it is a clearly a commentary on our inability to talk about and treat trauma and mental illness.

I avoided X for a long time, but there was so much buzz surrounding it, I finally broke down and watched it. To summarize my feelings: I don’t think its elegant cinematography and gimmicky editing were enough to elevate what is essentially a pretty conventional slasher.
