This is a World War II era government production to educate viewers about the steel industry. It focuses on Youngstown and really gets into the pride the workers have in this job. These jobs were just unionized, thanks to the government itself that basically mandated it through the maintenance of membership contracts that forced the steel industry to capitulate in its decades-long war against unions. As such, you can see just how insanely dangerous this work was. It got safer over the years at least, though then it was out-competed by steel from Asia, as the companies spent more time trying to roll back the unions than investing in new plants. In any case, a valuable document.
