Pretending they aren’t totally stoked to strip girls and women of their rights and force them to have babies isn’t just for Bleak Masters. Republicans are trying to squirm away from their anti-abortion positions by squeaking “State’s rights!”

Specifically, they don’t want a total ban on abortion. They just want to allow individual states to ban abortion. (Wink!)

In California, representatives Mike Garcia and Michelle Steel, two vulnerable Republican incumbents, recently retreated from an antiabortion bill they cosponsored last year by indicating their support for abortion rights in cases of rape, incest, or threats to the mother’s health, according to the Los Angeles Times. Such exemptions were not included in the Life at Conception Act.

There wouldn’t be any exemptions. The whole point of attempting to codify the extremist and anti-factual stance that that two cells = a human being is to make as many women and girls suffer as possible.

Steel, an antiabortion lawmaker with an A+ policy rating from Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America, has seemingly distanced herself from hard-line abortion policies this cycle, telling the Los Angeles Times that, despite her support for the measure, conversations “surrounding a nationwide ban on abortion are purely hypothetical at this point.”

This point being the point before Republicans are in a position to pass this bill. So shut up and vote.

Garcia, facing a particularly tough race after redistricting decreased the number of GOP voters in his district, has assured his constituents that the Supreme Court’s decision “will not change access to abortions” in the state.

The reason it won’t affect access in California is because Democrats won’t let it. Perhaps Garcia just wants to assure Californians that if Republicans do take their rights, it will be done by the state. The way Jesus and St. Reagan intended. Anyway, shut up and vote.

In [Tiffany] Smiley’s ad, the Republican candidate insisted that she is not the antiabortion “extremist” Murray has portrayed her as. However, leading up to the race’s primary election, Smiley said she agreed with Texas’s near-total abortion ban, which is widely considered to be among the most extreme in the country.

Why, O why, do Democrats keep attacking Republicans by repeating Republican statements when they should instead adopt the positions on abortion that Republicans claim they have abandoned for the sake of fairness? So incivil!

In the U.S. Senate race in Colorado, abortion has become the focal point after Democratic senator Michael Bennet released a campaign ad accusing his GOP challenger, Joe O’Dea, of opposing the state’s abortion protections and supporting Donald Trump’s Supreme Court selections. According to Axios, O’Dea countered by declaring his support for abortions that take place within 20 weeks of pregnancy.

Sure, bruh. Whatever.

What I don’t understand is who do these assholes think they’re beguiling with all these contortions? “Low information voters” is an easy answer, and that’s why it’s stupid. Republicans who are OK with abortion so long as it isn’t legal in their state? OK, that’s five votes, and doesn’t help people like Garcia and Steel.

Republicans who are OK with abortion so long as it is illegal somewhere? That’s just silly.

Perhaps Independents or even Republicans who are squeamish about banning abortion and need a little lip service from the candidate so they can justify their vote? Fine. That’s 20 more votes.

I guess a better question would be what voter block or blocks do they think will replace all the anti-choice Republicans who have been jerking off over the Dobbs opinion non-stop since the draft was leaked?

However, the For It Before I Was Against Being For It dance isn’t a strategy. Or a dance. It’s a panicked frantic flailing by people who were too arrogant and too high on the prospect taking away the rights of roughly half the population to suspect it might come with negative consequences for them.

And speaking of negative consequences, it would be a shame if any of the ultra-violent shits the GOP has been nurturing with lurid tales of baby parts, microscopic Gerber babies ripped from the womb and women in their 39th week of pregnancy getting abortions just for funzies were to see these writhing worms as traitors. A real shame. :-(

People who post off topic comments would pay Peter Theil for a chance to sniff Blake Master’s socks.
