Off the top of my head, I can’t remember a superstar NFL QB being traded in the prime of his career. (Peyton Manning was a much older 35, having just missed an entire. season with a career-threatening injury, so that wouldn’t be a comparable situation. ETA: Commenter points out Manning wasn’t even a trade — he was a free agent. Fran Tarkenton maybe?). Don’t know what the Broncos gave up — I imagine it’ll be something like three first-round picks, but obviously a great move for a team that already had a very solid roster except for the most important position on the field.
Meanwhile anti-vax warrior Aaron Rodgers just signed a $200 million extension at age 38 ($153 million guaranteed), which I suppose means he’ll be able to fund a lot of research.
