Have to honor the late Ivan Reitman tonight, which means showing his 1968 student film Orientation, which is, well, a student film. It attempts to be a bit of satire about starting college. I guess it works OK for that. Seems Reitman managed to build on this film pretty effectively. It’s not really funny or even particularly satirical. But it at least holds a narrative thread throughout, which is more than you can say for most student films. He later borrowed some of these ideas for Animal House, though which ones might be clearer to him than to the viewer of this. Historically interesting in any case. Also, note that Eugene Levy was a production assistant on this.
