We lost George Segal last week. This….was not one of his best films. It’s the 1985 ridiculous anti-drug TV film Not My Kid. I’d like to think that the pained expressions of Segal and Stockard Channing are not about their kid’s drug use, but rather wondering to themselves why they took these roles. You can actually watch the whole thing, but this is just the 5 minute confessional clip, which just gets better and better.
Evidently, this kind of over the top humiliating confession as treatment was part and parcel of a War on Drugs-associated group called Straight Inc., that was shut down in the 90s for abusing the kids.
