Once, Incels Were Creative
“The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock” is about an incel. I’ve gone through it to find the most telling lines, and it’s every one of them.
Maybe this
Certainly this
I do not think that they will sing to me.
I’m working on “The Girl From Ipanema,” which also is about an incel. Here are the lyrics:
Tall and tan and young and lovely
The girl from Ipanema goes walking
And when she passes
Each one she passes goes “ah”
When she walks, she’s like a samba
That swings so cool and sways so gentle
That when she passes, each one she passes goes “ooh”
But I watch her so sadly
How can I tell her I love her
Yes I would give my heart gladly
But each day, when she walks to the sea
She looks straight ahead, not at me
Tall, tan, young, and lovely
The girl from Ipanema goes walking
And when she passes, I smile but she doesn’t see
She just doesn’t see
She never sees me
Here’s the version that became an international hit:
I guess it had to be a woman singing it, although Frank Sinatra also did a version.
Men have always felt that they couldn’t get the women they want, but some turned those feelings into something more than self-pity.
