Greg Abbott is a real piece of work:

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott is stalling efforts by the Biden administration to provide federal funds for Covid-19 tests for migrants released from custody, a senior Homeland Security official tells CNN.After relaxing state Covid restrictions this week, Abbott alleged, without evidence, that migrants coming into Texas are exposing the state’s residents to the coronavirus. “The Biden administration has been releasing immigrants in south Texas that have been exposing Texans to Covid,” Abbott, a Republican, said in a CNBC interview Thursday. But behind the scenes, the Department of Homeland Security has relayed plans to the governor’s office to try and get assistance to cities and counties to mitigate Covid-19 spread, according to the official.

So, to summarize:

  • With the virus still rampant and vaccine distribution lagging, Abbott made the ludicrously indefensible decision to revoke all of the state’s anti-COVID measures, putting many essential workers in a position to chose between their jobs and a high risk of exposure to the virus.
  • Abbott tried to preemptively blame the inevitable spike in cases that will be caused by his grossly irresponsible policymaking on JOE BIDEN releasing DISEASE-RIDDEN FURRINERS onto pristine Texas soil.
  • It’s Abbott who is blocking federal money that could test immigrants and isolate anyone who has the virus.

Abbott never met Will Rogers, I’d be willing to say.
