The obvious assumption to make here is that Sanders’s medical records are disturbing enough that engaging in this sort of nonsense is at least arguably less costly than actually releasing them.

On the other hand, Sanders hemmed and hawed about releasing his taxes forever, and when he finally did there was nothing in there.

So maybe he’s just a cranky weirdo.

In any event, if we’re going to go down the road of nominating almost-80 year olds who’ve had heart attacks (Bloomberg is also in this category) then the choice of a VP becomes actually as important as the press normally treats it as being.
