Trump to end birthright citizenship by executive order

This would be flagrantly illegal, especially on the basis of the originalist principles of interpretation that conservatives claim to hallow.  (Read Steve Kantrowitz’s twitter thread on this embedded below).

Of course on the eve of all hallows eve it’s good to recall that fascists are not conservatives, and fascists have nothing but contempt for legal principles and law in general.

Two years ago the Republican party was not a fascist organization, and it would have been absurd to claim it was.  Today it’s well on its way.

1/ On birthright citizenship, read the debate in the U.S. Senate, Jan. 30, 1866. The framers of the Civil Rights Act–the immediate precursor to the 14th Amendment, and the first place national citizenship was codified–knew exactly what they were doing.
