A White House Devoid of Art
Dave Eggers’ opinion column in the New York Times is getting a lot of attention this morning and I understand why. I’d never given much thought to the idea that Trump is empty shell of a man who seems to have no interest in art or music.
The point is that this is moot. He's simply not interested in art, music, poetry, film. He's an empty man. https://t.co/rvJKjne9KA

I’d be the first to point out that my tastes range from quite lowbrow to occasionally-highbrow. But I have tastes. I like things. Whether they’re unchallenging pop songs or daytime dramas, an artsy movie or the bonkers exhibit at my local museum, I listen, I look, I learn, I enjoy.
Can you imagine Trump listening to a song and being moved by it? Thinking about a film hours after he watched it, trying to tease out meaning? Reading a book and never wanting it to end? No, you can't because Trump is not a normal human being who enjoys normal human things.

Do we know anything of Trump’s taste in anything? Does he enjoy anything, outside of golfing and banging porn stars?
And TBH there is a whole segment of the population–his admirers-who are simply broken, who can't wring joy from art, from anything but triggering libs. It's terrifying and sad.
