VA Primary

So there was a primary election in Virginia tonight. To summarize:

• As far as I can tell, there isn’t a penny’s worth of difference between Northam and Perriello in terms of how they would govern.
• If you want to win primary elections, nurturing relationships with the party’s constituencies is very important.
• Northam will be a heavy favorite against greasy Republican hack Ed Gillespie, who barely beat a rabid white supremacist. Perriello would have been as well.
• Trying to wedge contests between ideologically similar candidates in a Hillary/Bernie frame so that you can re-litigate the primaries for the umpteenth time is not merely irritating as hell but actively pernicious.
