You know things are bad when Trump accidentally tells the truth:
President Trump, who gave Cuomo an 11th-hour endorsement on Monday, urging Republicans to abandon Sliwa, their party’s candidate, is now absolving himself of any responsibility for Cuomo’s defeat. “‘TRUMP WASN’T ON THE BALLOT, AND SHUTDOWN, WERE THE TWO REASONS THAT REPUBLICANS LOST ELECTIONS TONIGHT,’ according to Pollsters,” he wrote on social media shortly after 10 p.m.
Not the only reasons, obviously — there’s also the massive unpopularity of your entire agenda to consider — but you got one of the big ones!
It’s also worth noting that “this iteration of the Republican coalition will only turn out in sufficient numbers for Trump” presents something of an issue for the party going forward. Speaking of which, in a minor but still hilarious result:
Cincinnati Mayor Aftab Pureval handily defeated Vice President JD Vance’s half-brother Tuesday, according to the Associated Press.
Pureval, a Democrat, trounced Cory Bowman, securing an early and humiliating lead over the Republican challenger. The final vote tally found that Purevan won 78 percent of the vote, with 51,698 votes, while Bowman seized a meager 14,383 votes, totalling just 22 percent, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer.
Shoulda done a tour in New Haven to get in touch with the working class, I guess.
