  • Mandatory life sentences for people under the age of 18 unconstitutional.
  • Shockingly, same 5-person majority not willing to say that Citizens United was wrong, throws out Montana campaign finance law.
  • Most of the Arizona immigration law SB-1070 struck down.   Only provision not struck is “check your papers” provision, which is still subject to as-applied challenge.  Great legal sage who is never tempted by politics unlike his fallen colleagues Antonin Scalia goes on about how Arizona “citizens feel themselves under siege by large numbers of illegal immigrants who invade their property, strain their social services, and even place their lives in jeopardy.”
