By Upon Ron Fairly’s retirement from the Mariners, I note that Yogi Berra has his reputation.
Like DMZ, I’ve grown to appreciate Fairly over the years. It actually took me several years of regular listening to see through the cliches, malapropisms, and folksy tone to see that, in fact, Fairly isn’t an idiot, and he’s willing to criticize the home team. I fear that he’ll be replaced by another idiot in the Valle/Henderson vein, which will be a loss.
