The kinda shit you get at your grocery

Rep. Dianne Black (R-Tenn.), author of the Border WTF Act, is sticking to the script when it comes to addressing gun violence. A script that has remained unedited for decades.
“Why do we see kids being so violent? What’s out there? What makes them do that?” Black said. “Because, as a nurse, I go back to root cause. And I think it’s a couple things,” Black said, listing off deterioration of the family and violent movies, before mentioning pornography.
Someone’s medical training was completely wasted.
“Pornography. It’s available. It’s available on the shelf when you walk in the grocery store. Yeah, you have to reach up to get it, but there’s pornography there,” Black says in the audio. “All of this is available without parental guidance.”
She made these comments during a phone call with a group of pastors, so it is easy to imagine they were looking at porn on the internet while she was maundering on about grocery porn. Or perhaps they were wondering where she does her shopping.
While her comments about porn are good for a laugh, taken as a whole her comments highlight the Republican determination to make sure that every discussion about gun violence explores every solution. Provided the solutions discussed do not include ways to make it harder for people to get their hands on a killing iron.
I suspect they award one another points if they avoid anything that might be a solution and instead reel off a few well-worn gripes. Violent movies, dissolution of the family and porn could just as easily been drugs, violent video games and not enough Jesus.
Actually, I’m surprised Black didn’t mention insufficient levels of JC since she was talking to pastors. Perhaps she grabbed the wrong script. At any rate, the Kvetch approach saves wear and tear on their brain cell, and it mitigates the risk that they’ll engage in any sort of activity that might be seen as constructive.
