This send-up of the Republican Party is so close to true, it’s not funny.

OK, it actually is funny. But scary.

That sort of sums up my response to Republican politicians these days. I am never sure whether to laugh hysterically or cringe in the corner in abject horror.

Republican candidates wouldn’t have this problem if only more of them would install signs like this in their campaign offices.

Ah, reminds me of the halcyon days of 2006, when Rep. Foley was on the way out:

“GOP: come for the corruption, stay for the pedophilia!”

      Good times, good times.

“I think they’re like, finally, someone’s taking a more nuanced position on rape.”

This opinion is available on-tap at any number of Internet forums, it pains me to report.

yeah, it’s a tough call. however, to their advantage, those particular demographics have a heavy crossover appeal, so either approach will capture the vast majority of both of them.

  • What is scary is that both the racism and misogyny are treated in the corporate press/media as if they were merely differences of opinion on tax policy.

What it means is that the ruling class is so desperate and depraved that there are no lines they will not cross, no depths they will not reach, and no part of humanity that they will not debase to maintain complete control of the government.

    • cpinva

yes. all they care about is money, and they’ll do whatever is necessary to achieve those ends. while the 1% would never be seen in the same company as the average misogyny/racist voter, a fair number of them share those traits as well. but the one thing that really gets their adrenelin going is cold, hard cash.

      • Party before country, money above all.

That’s been the effective credo for the conservative Republican TeaBaggers for a good long while. Everything else is just misdirection to fool the rubes into helping them de-regulate, cut taxes, and ignore the rest of humanity.

        • DrDick

That has actually been the credo of the entire Republican Party for at least 30 years.

          “Money Uber Alles”

has a nice ring to it, don’t you think?

If only we could offer to print up an extra $1T for one half of them to kill off the other half.

truth be told, it might require $5T, but i personally believe it would be money printed and well spent. can’t get a much better ROI than that.

According to some recent polling (info from Daily Intel), anti-black attitidues are up from 49% to 56% of the population since 2008. Given that the First Family is black, I think racism is ultimately the winning theme this cycle.

This’ll continue to be the case until the Civil War finally ends.

        What’s the over/under?

I’ve got 175 years in the pool — and I’m lookin’ good.

          This is the sesquicentennial.

          • Pestilence

ANOTHER 175 years, I assume you mean?

You can’t make a delicious meal out of just racism and misgyny.

You need to spice it up with classism, age-ism, xenophobia, and/or homophobia. And then let it seep and stew.

    Now, THAT’S a full meal!

Don’t forget to add a dash of nationalism and militarism.

      • Bart

        and selfishness.

  • Wido Incognitus

    1. I am a bad person.
    2. GOD is great. Love GOD.
    3. Loving GOD may be an important basis for robust and humane liberalism, as opposed to self-satisfied knowingness, that would be able to withstand racist and misogynist wrath. There are people who think (1) racism and misogyny are good because (2) people who are not racist or misogynist are hurt by people who are. That is essentially their way of thinking. There must be at least the possibility of a bridge between individual value and community purpose.

  • The problem with liberals, progressives, and Democrats is that they are slaves to political correctness and think that racism, misogyny, homophobia, xenophobia, rape babies and all the rest are bad things. Conservative, Republican TeaBaggers are just trying to toughen up the weaker members of the general population that are prone to victimhood, whining, and expecting to be treated like WASP males. It’s for their own good so that they will lower their unreasonable expectations.
