By So, if I understand correctly, Bud Selig wants to try to impose a lifetime ban (while offering a plea of a year + ~55 games) on A-Rod for an offense that is supposed to carry a 50 game suspension, and on top of that try to circumvent the appeals process established for drug offenses.
The integrity of the game indeed. Not only is this wrong in itself, but it threatens to blow up two decades of carefully earned labor peace so that Selig can appear tough. Sadly, it seems to seem safe to assume that Calcaterra will be in the minority of baseball writers in condemning this indefensible action.
