Next month’s G7 leaders meeting in Alberta is shaping up to be a deluxe bouquet of fucks. What with the tariffs and the fact that the U.S. will be sending a Republican troll who won’t shut up about annexing the host country, even on the day the host country said “No” or “Non” to a younger, more reality-aware version of the Republican troll.

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has said his country deserves respect from the US and will only enter trade and security talks with President Donald Trump “on our terms”.

Speaking exclusively to the BBC as the polls were closing, Carney said he would only visit Washington when there was a “serious discussion to be had” that respected Canada’s sovereignty.

Carney and Trump have since spoken and agreed to meet in the near future, according to the Canadian prime minister’s office.

“The leaders agreed on the importance of Canada and the US working together – as independent, sovereign nations – for their mutual betterment,” the statement reads.

Trump was also said to congratulate Carney on the election.

That was the cue for some intrepid reporter to contact the tRump administration.

Since Trump’s re-election to the White House, the US president has repeatedly mentioned making Canada the “51st state” of America, and earlier on Tuesday this was reiterated by the White House on Tuesday.

“The election does not affect President Trump’s plan to make Canada America’s cherished 51st state,” White House deputy spokesperson Anna Kelly said.

The White House’s Days Without Sounding Like a Serial Killer Who Keeps His Victims’ Molars tracker remains stuck at 0.

I suppose there’s a chance that Glump will stay at home and send the Tariff Czar to assault Canada’s sofas, but I doubt it. How will the other leaders know the U.S. doesn’t need or want them if he doesn’t tell them at every opportunity?

Maybe the normal people will shunt him and Alberta’s separatist dipshit of a premier into a side room. And lock the door so they can put on their own production of No Exit. (I apologize, but I’ve forgotten the name of the commenter who shared that several First Nation leaders have told Premier Smith that if she wants to live in a separate country, she’ll have to leave Alberta. Or just to shut up.

Update: I forgot to include this news nugget about Pierre Poilievre, who intends to run for an Alberta seat. Also so I can share that I read just enough French to sometimes see his last name as Furievre. It’s very distracting.
