What Will Become of Gianni Infantino?

It’s amazing to see Gianni Infantino skyrocket up the rank of global villains while holding an incredibly successful World Cup. But his untrammelled greed and sucking up to the worst people in the world, shrugging his shoulders at how America’s ethnic cleansing regime impacted the ability to fans to attend the Cup, rigging the World Cup locadtions in 2030 to make Saudi Arabia a fait accompli for the 2034 cup, and just generally being a symbol of Global Gilded Age amorality, believing himself to be one of the globally powerful who can act with impunity to take money from others in the global power structure and move just enough of it to the national federations to keep him in power. But the ticket pricing issues at the Cup really infuriated the Europeans especially. And then he decided to go all in on handing over large parts of FIFA to Jared Kushner’s venture capital.

It’s amazing that untrammelled greed connected to the Trump Crime Family finally has some sort of point where it leads to a massive reaction. It would have been so easy to Infantino to just remain incredibly wealthy, powerful, and corrupt, but just behind the scenes. He couldn’t resist though. Kushner’s bags of cash have moved Infantino into Sepp Blatter territory. It might actually cost his job. He’s spent the last several days shoring up his support, but other than his Arab state allies and their mutual corruption, it’s unclear who really supports him enough to fight for him, except maybe Argentina because of course the fucking Argentines love him. And the European nations are out for blood now., with plenty of support from North America and Asia:

UEFA, Concacaf and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) remain steadfast in their position that Gianni Infantino should resign as FIFA president.

On Monday morning, UEFA, the European confederation, Concacaf, the confederation of North, Central America and the Caribbean, and the AFC joined together to release an open letter, critical of Infantino and signed by the president and general secretary from each organisation.

This comes after FIFA, world football’s governing body, released a statement on Saturday that hit out at what it described as a “concerted and ongoing effort by some to undermine” Infantino and the organisation.

The failed FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE) plan, which has heaped immense pressure on Infantino, would have seen FIFA make stakes in its commercial and event operations, including the World Cups and Club World Cups, available for private investment.

Following a crisis meeting of select members of FIFA’s management in Morocco on Wednesday, Infantino, who apologised with Mattias Grafstrom, FIFA’s secretary general, for the FFE proposal, received the “full support” from his senior leadership team.

The open letter from UEFA, Concacaf and AFC read: “This recent meeting, where a select number of members of the FIFA Management Committee — not the full Committee — were summoned abroad, rather than leadership going to Zurich to address the heart of FIFA, its staff, only reinforces these concerns and represents a continuation of the very pattern of conduct that brought us to this moment.

FIFA is the most corrupt institution in the entire world. And given what the world looks like today, that’s a hell of a bar. Maybe handing the second FIFA Peace Prize to Mohammad bin Salman will save Infantino, that’s two good men right there.
