It’s good that the Peace President engineered a totally ironclad ceasefire agreement to conclude the war with Iran that started through some mysterious unknown mechanism, or things might get really bad over there:
An American servicemember died in northern Iraq on Saturday during a controlled detonation of a downed Iranian attack drone, according to U.S. Central Command, adding to what has already been one of the deadliest weeks for U.S. forces in the Iran war.
A second servicemember was wounded during the incident and is receiving medical treatment, Centcom said.
Additionally, the U.S. is working to identify human remains at a base in Jordan after a missile struck the location this weekend, Centcom said. The remains are believed to be of a servicemember who went missing after the strike, according to a person familiar with the matter. If confirmed, it would bring to three the number of U.S. troops killed in that strike.
The rising casualty count comes amid an escalating exchange of fire between the U.S. and Iran during which both sides have sought to attack increasingly sensitive targets. The missile attack in Jordan also resulted in several injuries.
Before this week, the Pentagon had said 14 American servicemembers had died in the conflict with Iran due to hostile actions or accidents.
The “art of the deal,” I believe this is called.
