Susan Collins: I got Roe v. Wade overruled and je ne regrette rien

My unsolicited advice to the Platner campaign is to run this footage as often and as broadly as possible:

NEWS CENTER MAINE: This is the first reelection campaign that you're run since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade. I was hoping you could talk to me a little bit about your vote to confirm Kavanaugh and whether you regret that? SUSAN COLLINS: I do not regret that vote.

I’m reluctant to mention this because Maine voters see a charisma to Susan Collins that is invisible to anyone else, but…she’s a 73-year-old who sounds halting and tired, even if we charitably overlook her apparent belief that Ketanji Brown Jackson was one of the Dobbs dissenters. And the implosion of the Mills campaign on the launch pad suggests that for obvious reasons the marginal voter cares about that more than they used to.

I will never be complacent about beating Collins after the 2020 debacle, but whatever one thinks about the Democratic candidate it’s six years later, it will be an even more favorable climate for Dems, Maine has shifted to the left, and the plausible deniability about Roe is gone and Collins doesn’t have any serious answer to the fact that it’s now an outcome she voted for. The roadmap to victory is pretty straightforward.
