Listen—I have a novel idea. One you haven’t seen around these parts recently. An insight into the inner mechanics of Lawyers, Guns & Money is that they bring me in for stuff like this. The brain-busting stuff, so difficult to handle that it requires a certain skill set not many possess. Think “The Wolf” from Pulp Fiction, with the exception that I DON’T drive fast. Never approved of speeding—a needless vice that serves no larger purpose other than self-gratification. Double nickels on the dime for me every time. But if you need a body disposed of… well, I don’t live three minutes from the CIA for nothing.

Here’s my novel idea. Here’s the deal folks, as Joe Biden used to tell us: You need to donate some of your hard-earned lucre to LGM. You’ve just got to. Man doesn’t live on bread alone and LGM can’t stay solvent just by your sundry and voluminous but profoundly appreciated vituperations in the comment section.

Do you guys remember the 2019 Washington Nationals? The ones that first walked-off the Brewers in the bottom of the 9th when Juan Soto turned around a Josh Hader fastball in the one-and-done wildcard game, and then we coasted weirdly to an improbable World Series victory in seven games against the cheating Astros. And every night, I drank a full-sized Chelada that became an obvious rallying point for this cosmically enormous event? We won the World Series.

Where else in this media environment are you getting this kind of work?

And in case you’re wondering, Lawyers, Guns & Money does quite a bit more than Washington Nationals coverage from six years ago. Think of it as a daily sanity check in a time when sanity coasts six-bucks-a-gallon, and counting. Think of it as a fractious and should-be-more-civil community that nevertheless functions year-after-year as a viable incubator for progressive ideas. Think of it as the vital think tank that it is, and then make a bet on what it’s worth to you. I certainly know what it’s worth to me.

Use discernment. Don’t pledge to LGM if you can’t afford it. We don’t want you to if it is an issue of financial anxiety. You will never be paywalled or excluded from commenting on the site. But for those who can afford it, even five dollars a month is profoundly helpful to our margin call when we take LGM public as an IPO. The Nats are 31-31 one-third through the 2026 season. Democrats are forming the old circular firing squad. This is not something you’re going to want to miss. Please pledge now if you can. The shit has hit the fan.
