I will remain in a state of prayerful expectation, like the Wise Men who traveled so far to witness another long-looked for blessed event:

Now as at all times I can see in the mind’s eye,

In their stiff, painted clothes, the pale unsatisfied ones

Appear and disappear in the blue depths of the sky

With all their ancient faces like rain-beaten stones,

And all their helms of silver hovering side by side,

And all their eyes still fixed, hoping to find once more,

Being by Calvary’s turbulence unsatisfied,

The uncontrollable mystery on the bestial floor.

Donald Trump is going to Walter Reed Hospital again tomorrow, for unknown reasons. The White House’s explanation is naturally farcical:

President Donald Trump will visit Walter Reed National Military Medical Center on May 26 for his annual dental and medical evaluation ― the third time he’s been to a dentist this year, and the second time just this month.

On May 2, Trump went to a dentist in Palm Beach, Florida, near his Mar-a-Lago estate. The visit was not on the president’s public schedule, but the White House nevertheless claimed afterward it was merely “a scheduled dental appointment at his local dentist.”

Trump had a similar appointment in early January, visiting a dentist in Florida the morning of Jan. 10. The White House used the exact same language in its statement at the time: “President Trump is going to a scheduled dental appointment at his local dentist in Florida.”

The White House has its own dental suite. Which raises the question of why Trump would schedule routine appointments elsewhere if they’re actually routine.

On its own, back-to-back-to-back “routine” appointments might be more easily dismissed, but in conjunction with Trump’s advanced age ― he’ll turn 80 in June ― and other health problems, it’s hard not to speculate.

Indeed it would be irresponsible not to speculate, especially since, at today’s ceremony honoring the “losers and suckers,” as Trump has described them, who died in the service of their country, Trump’s hand had a grotesquely necrotic aspect, as if the rottenness of his soul is beginning to overwhelm the outer shell that contains that putrefying metaphysical entity.
