Trump threatens literal genocide (narrow definition) against “whole civilization”

He sounds exactly like a Nazi, which is what he’s always been, except that’s impossible because he’s the American president, and therefore American Exceptionalism makes such a thing impossible, because ultimately we’re the good guys on that shining city on a hill, even if we go too far sometimes. We’re the first to admit it.

“A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again,” Trump warned. He framed it as “one of the most important moments in the long and complex history of the World.”

I’d say there’s about a 20% chance that he orders the use of nuclear weapons, although probably only small, tasteful, “tactical” ones, and a 100% chance that such genocidal orders will be followed. Why? My guy on the inside says:

Fundamentally, as an institution, we never really equipped ourself with the tools needed to really go through with any kind of mass action acknowledging our overlords are evil, stupid, or crazy. I’m not even sure if we could, at least, not with an aggressive, assertive expeditionary military. Maybe a place with a small military that really doesn’t ever envision fighting any large scale or existential war could prioritize legality and morality over obedience, but it’s not in our DNA.

I could see us rebelling against invading Greenland. Maybe against explicitly and intentionally massacring children or something. Once we’re in combat against an actual rival and there’s some thin veneer of legality, there’s not going to be any kind of massive resistance.

All this is made worse by the pro-crimes, anti-law purges over the last year. Any institutional will to resist has been fired.
