Looks grim.

The U.S. and regional mediators Tuesday continued their push for a potential 45-day cease-fire that could lead to a permanent end to the ‌war with Iran but little progress has been made, officials familiar with matter said.

Iranian mediators are still refusing to accept a temporary pause in fighting in exchange for opening the Strait of Hormuz or giving up the country’s highly enriched uranium stockpile, the officials said.

Iran would only lift its de facto blockade of the key shipping route in exchange for a permanent cease-fire but it would continue to retain control over it and split fees with Oman, they said.

Iranian officials have told mediators they expect the U.S. will continue to attack targets in the country and Israel to keep conducting airstrikes to take out senior Iranian officials—even if negotiations with the U.S. move forward, the officials said.

President Trump has threatened to destroy key Iranian infrastructure such as bridges and power plants if Iran does not agree to reopen the Strait of Hormuz by 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Administration has its priorities in order:

Mr. Trump said Vice President JD Vance; Steve Witkoff, his special envoy; and Jared Kushner, his son-in-law, were all involved in the negotiations. Mr. Vance, who is expected to participate in any face-to-face talks if they occur, is scheduled to be in Hungary on Tuesday to show support for Prime Minister Viktor Orban. Officials have said he may adjust his trip for negotiations if Iranian officials agreed to meet.

Nobody is making noise in public that suggests that a cease-fire is possible, but of course you never know. FWIW, the Polymarket predictions seem to me all over the place.
